§ New Drop/Add policies - beginning Fall
2009
Git-R-Done!
Significant new changes to drop and add
have been approved by the faculty and go into effect for fall term. Specific deadline
dates and requirements are posted
HERE. Please note that spring-term drop/add deadlines are
slightly different and earlier.
There are four basic
changes that you need to know.
-
Shorter drop/add
period: The first change is that the faculty is serious
that they want you to have your class schedule finalized in the
first week of the term. After week 1, any drop/add will be
considered late and will require extra approvals, petitions to the
Faculty Executive Committee, a significant late fee, and possibly a
drop with record on your transcript.
-
Higher late fees:
The
second change reflects an increase in late fees. After week 1, late
drops and adds will incur a $100 fee and, after the end of the term,
fees increase to $200.
-
Drop with record:
The third change is a new drop-with-record policy. After week 2 of a term, any dropped course will stay
on your transcript with a "W" (withdrew) grade. After midterm, a
withdrew passing ("WP") or withdrew failing ("WF") grade will be
assigned by the faculty.
-
Must carry
full-time load: The final change is that all degree-seeking
students must be carrying a full-time load by the end of week 2 of the term, or they will be automatically withdrawn from the
University. In other words, you have two weeks to clear all
registration holds and get registered for your classes.
