Rules Explanation:
-
Your adviser, your graduation class and your major information
will be locked in as declared at least 10 days in advance of the first
day for seniors to begin each term's registration. If you haven't declared
your major, you may not be able to gain entrance into important majors-only
courses. If you are in doubt
about your own class standing or major declaration(s), please check with the University
Registrar's Office prior to May 9 for the Fall 2008 Web Registration.
-
Schedule an appointment
with your declared academic advisers.
-
PreRegistration
may be done prior to meeting with your advisers and must
be done by Sunday, May 18. If you have suggestions about course topics
or want to express interest in a course in advance of registration, please
contact the appropriate department head directly.
-
Passwords: You will receive via your W&L e-mail address a new
PreRegistration
password for each term. ONLY your advisers can provide your
WebRegistration
password; if you lose it, check with your advisers again.
-
Starting time:
Your individual WebRegistration starting
time will be sent to you via your W&L e-mail account on Monday, May
19.
-
Web Registration is open to you ONLY during the "window"
you've been assigned, until the "Clean Up Days" after the rising sophomores have
finished their Web Registration period.
-
Limits
& Course Counts: Departments determine the number of spots
being saved for each class year (and majors or non-majors) in each course
(e.g. 15 for juniors, 10 for sophomores, etc.). You can see these limits
on the course
counts page, along with how many spots have already been taken.
Black
numbers show what's open; Red numbers
indicate that the number of spots for a given category have been exhausted
-- the course is closed. (Need help finding open
courses?)
-
Getting Permission
for a Course: WebRegister for your courses BEFORE
seeking permission. Students registering for permission-required courses or placed on a waiting
list for a closed course are granted permission by the faculty online. It
is your responsibility to check with the faculty member to remind her/him
to "click you in" to a course.
-
Overload
permissions must be granted by a dean (Dobin, Ikeda, Knapp, Peppers,
Straughan, Leonard) prior to being able to register for the overload.
You are limited to the regular load (max 14 credits for fall and
winter) and four wait lists during Web Registration unless you have
special permission.
Remember, all degree-seeking students must carry at least 12
credits during the term.
- Meet with your adviser(s) and discuss course choices and
some alternatives, including p.e.
skills courses.
- Get your WebReg password from one of your formally declared
advisers.
-
PreRegister
by Sunday, May 18.
-
Understand PE registration,
especially the problems which might prevent you from getting a PE during
scheduling. Check the PE
scheduling statistics.
-
Read your W&L e-mail on Monday, May 19th to find out your WebRegistration
start time or just start WebRegistration. You won't be able to get in, but the
system will tell you when your starting time is and will give you a countdown
clock at the bottom of the screen.
-
Talk to a dean (Dobin, Ikeda, Knapp, Peppers, Straughan, Leonard) if you
are planning an overload.
-
Register
after your assigned starting
time, for a full load (12-14 credits and some p.e.
skills courses).
-
Rising Seniors: start between 9:30 am and 3 pm
EDT Tuesday, 5/20;
finish between 12:01 am and 6:00 am EDT Thursday, 5/22
-
Rising Juniors: start between 9:30 am and 3 pm
EDT Wednesday, 5/21;
finish between 12:01 am EDT and 6:00 am EDT Friday, 5/23
-
Rising Sophomores: start between 9:30am and 3 pm Thursday, 5/22;
finish between 12:01 am and 6:00 am EDT Saturday, 5/24
-
Cleanup (all returning classes): start 12:01 am
EDT, Saturday, 5/24;
finish by 11:59 pm EDT, Monday, 5/26.
-
- Register for alternative courses, if you are waiting for
permission or for a wait list to open up. You should enter a
second-choice course on the same line. If that course is
also closed, you should enter an open, no-permission course in the
"I'm registered" column of the same line as a
third-choice course.
- Check your e-mail regularly for messages related to permissions
granted, conflicts, and prerequisites.
- Revisit your registration anytime during your "window"
or during the Clean-up Days or during the summer.
- Clean-up Days: all students may make changes to registration on
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, May 24, 25, and 26 until 11:59 pm.
-
Late registration: The $25 late registration fee will be assessed if you
haven't completed (registered in the right-hand column for at
least one course) Web Registration by Monday, May 26 at midnight US
Eastern Daylight Time. Please
come to the University Registrar's Office if you want to
register late and prior to course scheduling in early September. WebRegistration will reopen later in June and will stay open through Monday, September
1st at 6 pm, after which time
you'll need to do a paper drop/add.
-
Don't leave WebRegistration without a full schedule in the right-hand
("I'm Registered") column. If you're waitlisted, find an alternative
and get registered for a full course load and contact the appropriate faculty
member about getting "clicked in" from the waiting or permission list.
If you have about how to use the system,
please stop by the office, call us at 8455 (8:30 to 4:30) or
ASK!
