How Do I Find Open Courses??

You've been put on the wait list for a course you really want.  First make sure that it's in the first choice column of the  line and that, if you get into it, you have all the prerequisites and you don't want any other course on that line.

Now, look for alternatives using the Course Counts page for the appropriate discipline.  Open spots in courses exist wherever the #Reg'd column is Black; Red numbers indicate that the limit set by the department has been exceeded.  You can still get on a wait list of a "closed" course, but you'll need to talk with the faculty member about getting off the wait list.

In the following example, ACCT 202 has a single limit of 30 students and only 21 have registered, so 21 appears.

ACCT 211 has been set with limits of 6/3/12/3/12/0 which means "six senior accounting majors, three senior-non-majors, 12 junior majors, three junior non-majors, 12 sophomores and no freshmen."  But there are 15 sophomores registered!!?  The faculty can override their own limits and let anyone off the wait list, so in this case more sophomores were allowed into the course than was originally planned.  There is only one sophomore still on the wait list, so you might be able to jump on the wait list and talk your way in, too.

Remember -- always check the catalog for prerequisites to make sure you actually qualify for a course.
